What are Pouahi (Digital Leaders)?

Pouahi (Digital leaders) will have a passion for digital technologies and a desire to support and grow the digital readiness of their colleagues. As leaders and innovative practitioners, Pouahi will stoke the fires of their colleague’s curiosity by supporting their learning communities to explore and implement the new digital content.

Digital Leaders Course (Te Pā Pouahi)

Te Pā Pouahi is an online course and facilitated online community, that will include live and pre-recorded webinars, alongside discussion forums and meetups to support learning and development.

This programme is not about Digital Fluency. This programme aims to support leaders to effectively implement the new digital content in both the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa in their schools/kura.

What will my time commitment be?

This is a responsive online course where the time commitment is largely managed by the participants. We estimate that you will need to allocate a minimum of 1 hour a week to engage in the course content. This course will support you to develop skills in the facilitation of adult learning, as well as essential leadership skills to effectively lead curriculum development in your school/kura/kāhui ako

What’s in it for me?

Te Pā Pouahi (online digital leadership community) will connect you with other teachers/kaiako who are leading Digital Technologies or Hangarau Matihiko implementation in their schools/kura. Participating in Te Pā Pouahi will support your own professional and leadership development as well as earn you a Pouahi digital badge that will provide evidence of your capabilities to lead the learning of others in this space.

Te Pā Pouahi will support and enable you to collaborate with like minded teachers and kaiako to learn and grow together. It is a space for collaborating with others, sharing ideas and resources as well as growing the capabilities of our wider sector.

How do I become a Pouahi (digital leader)?

When you complete Te Tokorima-a-Mahuika (the online Self Review Tool), there will an opportunity to express your interest in becoming a Pouahi (digital leader).

Do I have what it takes to be a Pouahi (digital leader)?

Pouahi (digital leaders) will be open to new learning and sharing their learning with others. They will lead the learning of their colleagues and the implementation of the new Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko content in their school/kura. Pouahi should have fairly good digital literacy and have begun to explore Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko.
